How we ought to treat animals is one of the greatest moral questions of our time.

The stakes involved, and all of our participation in systems of animal exploitation, make it both an extremely pressing and difficult question to engage with. Allied Scholars for Animal Protection (ASAP) provides a space for students, faculty, and members of the greater Boston community to explore the animal question in more depth, while working to end animal exploitation at Harvard.

We discuss how we ought to live alongside other animals, and how systems of animal exploitation prevent the flourishing of both human and non-human animals alike. ASAP is a nationwide organization that provides an orchestrated, unified, and sustainable infrastructure for animal advocacy at colleges and universities. ASAP aims at creating a new generation of vegan leaders and highly influential animal advocates by empowering talented and passionate students, and is creating a network of animal advocate students and scholars in top universities in the US.

Harvard's ASAP chapter is open to undergraduate and graduate students, and indeed participation from all schools is highly encouraged to bridge the gap between dissonant groups to build a strong network of those considering animal issues. We strive to provide an active platform for all those interested in justice, animal ethics, animal suffering, food systems, speciesism, and plant-based diets to meet and engage with each other through activities and social events.
